Whittlesey United 6 V 0 Peterborough Sports

We were good for 60mins despite being 1-0 down n had enough chances to be level with them. They then get a 2nd goal and flood gates open, only about 3 lads could of walked off that pitch saying they had played well for us!

I have never see such a shambles on a football pitch as we were saturday. fair play to the Whittlesey lads they played a good game and gave us a good lesson, and unlike some teams, even though they were romping they didnt try n take the mickey.

Oundle 2 V 2 Peterborough Sports

Oundle played hosts to Peterborough sports this week and sports were looking to bounce back to winnings ways after an humiliating 4-1 thumping in there last game away at lowly uppingham. Sports knew this wouldn’t be an easy fixture, as oundle had only been beaten once at home since Clifton took over and the fact that oundle are chasing every point available to stay in top flight football. Psl started the better side and looked like they would repeat the scoreline of two weeks previous when the 2 clubs met at Lincoln road and psl ran out 6-2 winners. But despite all of psl’s early pressure they just couldn’t find that finishing touch.

Midway through the 1st half psl fount themselves a goal down after some poor defending see the oundle front line break through and take a 1-0 lead. That lead was short lived, as psl’s possession play finally payed off after some great 1 touch football released todd down the wing, he beat his marker and drilled a ball across goal into the path of thackham who slotted past the oundle keeper, 1-1. The game was being played at a fairly fast pace, which see several mis placed passes and loss of possession from both sides. However as the 1st half came to a close oundle won a corner and again sloppy defending resulted in oundle finding themselves 2-1 up.

Half-time

We went into our changing rooms looking like a team beaten, a few choice words from jimmy brattan n lee britton directed at players individually seemed to have payed off, as within 2mins of the restart, great work by wyer see him break through the oundle defence and fired a cracking shot into the bottom corner of the net giving the keeper no chance 2-2. For the next 20 mins psl took the game to oundle and looked like they had finally woke up out of there deep sleep, but no matter how hard they pressed they couldn’t break through the resilient oundle defence. Fitness seemed to take it’s toll on the psl lads as oundle started to creep back into the game, two fine saves from mcgaffin, the cross bar ( twice ) and a clearance off the line by Mcpolin see psl hang onto a 2-2 draw. We have to be happy with that result as oundle deserved all 3 points on the day.
